Before You Begin
Make sure you have:
A stable internet connection
Administrator access to your Mac
Enough available storage space
The Office installer included with your order
The Office LTSC 2024 Volume License Serializer included with your order
We recommend closing all Office applications before you begin.
Step 1 – Remove Previous Office Licenses if Necessary
If another version of Microsoft Office or Microsoft 365 is already installed, its existing license may conflict with Office LTSC Standard 2024.
You do not normally need to uninstall Office if no other version is installed and you have not experienced an activation problem.
If you need to remove an existing Office license, use Microsoft’s official license removal tool:
Close all Microsoft Office applications.
Download and open the license removal tool.
Select Continue and follow the instructions.
Enter your Mac administrator password when prompted.
Select Close when the process is complete.
Restart your Mac.
Important: The tool removes all existing Office licenses from your Mac. Make sure you have the necessary details to reactivate any other Office product you intend to continue using.
Removing an Office license or application does not delete your personal Word, Excel, or PowerPoint files.
Step 2 – Download the Required Files
Open the order email you received from us and download both of the following files:
Microsoft Office installer
Microsoft Office LTSC 2024 Volume License Serializer
The activation package should be named:
Microsoft_Office_LTSC_2024_VL_Serializer.pkg
The filenames may appear slightly different depending on your browser and the version provided.
Once the downloads are complete, open Finder and select Downloads.
Step 3 – Install Microsoft Office
In the Downloads folder, double-click the Microsoft Office installer
.pkgfile.Select Continue.
Review the Microsoft software license agreement.
Select Continue, and then select Agree.
Choose the installation location if prompted.
Select Install.
Enter your Mac administrator password or use Touch ID when prompted.
Wait for the installation to finish.
Select Close.
Do not open the Office applications yet. Complete the activation step first.
Step 4 – Activate Office LTSC Standard 2024
Office LTSC Standard for Mac 2024 is activated using the Volume License Serializer.
Open Finder and select Downloads.
Double-click:
Microsoft_Office_LTSC_2024_VL_Serializer.pkgSelect Continue.
Follow the instructions shown by the installer.
Select Install.
Enter your Mac administrator password or use Touch ID when prompted.
Wait for the activation package to finish installing.
Select Close.
Restart your Mac.
The Volume License Serializer installs the Office LTSC 2024 license on your Mac. You do not need to enter a 25-character product key or sign in with a Microsoft account to activate Office.
Step 5 – Open Microsoft Office
After restarting your Mac:
Open Finder.
Select Applications.
Open an Office application, such as:
Microsoft Word
Microsoft Excel
Microsoft PowerPoint
Microsoft Outlook
Accept any first-launch prompts.
Create a blank document to confirm that the application works correctly.
Office should now be activated and ready to use.
Signing in with a Microsoft account is optional and may be required for certain connected services. It is not required to activate the Office LTSC license.
Verify the Installation and Activation
To check the installed version:
Open Microsoft Word.
From the menu bar, select Word → About Microsoft Word.
Confirm that the installed version is 16.89 or later.
Make sure no Activation Required or Unlicensed Product warning appears.
If Office opens normally without an activation warning, the license has been installed successfully.
Troubleshooting
Office Requests Activation
If Office still asks you to activate:
Close all Office applications.
Run
Microsoft_Office_LTSC_2024_VL_Serializer.pkgagain.Restart your Mac.
Reopen Microsoft Word.
Office Shows an Old or Incorrect License
An older Microsoft 365 or Office license may still be stored on your Mac.
Close all Office applications.
Run Microsoft’s Office License Removal Tool.
Restart your Mac.
Run the Office LTSC 2024 Volume License Serializer again.
Restart your Mac and open Word.
The Installer Will Not Open
Make sure the installer was downloaded from the link included with your order.
If macOS blocks a verified installer:
Open System Settings.
Select Privacy & Security.
Scroll down and look for a message about the blocked installer.
Select Open Anyway.
Enter your Mac administrator password if prompted.
Try opening the installer again.
Only select Open Anyway if you downloaded the file from the link included with your order or directly from Microsoft.
Installation Fails
Try the following:
Restart your Mac and run the installer again.
Confirm that you have enough available storage.
Install the latest compatible macOS updates.
Close all Office applications before reinstalling.
Download the installer again in case the original file was incomplete.
Remove previous Office licenses if they are causing a conflict.
The Latest Office Version Is Not Compatible With Your macOS Version
The latest Office update may not support older versions of macOS.

Office LTSC for Mac 2024 requires Office version 16.89 or later. An installer older than version 16.89 cannot be used for Office LTSC 2024.
