Activate your Microsoft Office Home & Business 2024 license by redeeming your product key with your Microsoft account.
Before You Begin
Before activating Office, please make sure that:
You have your 25-character product key ready.
You have a Microsoft account (or can create one during activation).
You have an internet connection.
If another version of Microsoft Office is already installed, we recommend uninstalling it first to avoid installation or activation conflicts.
Important: Your product key can only be redeemed once. After redemption, the license becomes permanently linked to the Microsoft account used during activation.
Step 1 – Redeem Your Product Key
Open your web browser and visit: https://setup.office.com
Sign in with your Microsoft account.
If you don't have one yet, select Create one and follow the instructions.
Step 2 – Enter Your Product Key
Enter the 25-character product key you received after your purchase.
Example: XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX
Click Next.
Step 3 – Confirm Your Region and Language
Choose your:
Country or Region
Preferred Language
Click Next to continue.
Step 4 – Product Successfully Redeemed
Once your product key has been accepted, Office Home & Business 2024 will be permanently associated with your Microsoft account.
You only need to redeem the key once.
Future installations can always be completed using the same Microsoft account.
Step 5 – Download Office
After redemption, click Install Office.
If you don't see the download button, visit:
Sign in using the same Microsoft account used during redemption.
Locate Office Home & Business 2024 and select Install.
Step 6 – Install Microsoft Office
Windows
Open the downloaded installer.
Allow Windows to make changes if prompted.
Follow the installation wizard until it finishes.
macOS
Open the downloaded Office Installer.pkg.
Follow the installation wizard.
If macOS displays a security prompt, choose Open or allow the installation in System Settings → Privacy & Security.
Wait for the installation to complete.
Step 7 – Activate Office
Open any Office application such as:
Word
Excel
PowerPoint
Outlook
Sign in using the same Microsoft account that was used to redeem the product key.
Office will activate automatically after signing in.
Verify Activation
To confirm Office is activated:
Windows
Open Word or Excel.
Select Account from the lower-left corner.
You should see:
Product Activated
Mac
Open Word.
Select Word → About Word or Help → Check for Updates.
Go to Word → Sign In if prompted.
Once activated, your account information will appear and Office will function normally.
Troubleshooting
"This product key has already been redeemed"
The product key has already been linked to a Microsoft account.
Sign in using the Microsoft account originally used during activation.
Office asks for another product key
Make sure you're signed into the correct Microsoft account.
If necessary:
Sign out of all Office applications.
Restart the computer.
Sign back in with the account that redeemed the license.
I cannot remember which Microsoft account I used
Try signing in with your other Microsoft email addresses.
If you're unable to locate the correct account, Microsoft Support may be able to help identify the account associated with the product key.
Installation won't start
Try the following:
Restart your computer.
Disable antivirus software temporarily.
Download the installer again from:
https://account.microsoft.com/services
