Before You Begin
Before starting, make sure you have:
✅ Your Microsoft Office Home & Student 2016 product key
✅ A Microsoft account (required for redemption)
✅ A stable internet connection
✅ Administrator access to your Windows PC
Important
Office Home & Student 2016 is permanently linked to the Microsoft account used during redemption.
Be sure to redeem the product using the Microsoft account you intend to keep.
Step 1 – Redeem Your Product Key
Open Microsoft's official Office redemption website:
Sign in with your Microsoft account.
If you don't have one, select Create one.
Enter your product key
Enter your 25-character product key, then select Next.
Example:
XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX
Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the redemption process.
After redemption, your Office license will be permanently associated with your Microsoft account.
Step 2 – Download Office
After redemption, Microsoft will display your Office product.
Select:
Install
or
Install Office
The installer will begin downloading.
Save the installer to your Downloads folder.
Step 3 – Install Microsoft Office
Locate the downloaded installer.
Double-click the installation file.
If Windows asks:
Do you want to allow this app to make changes to your device?
Select:
Yes
The Office installation will begin automatically.
Please wait while Windows installs Office.
This may take several minutes depending on your computer.
Once finished, you'll see:
You're all set! Office is installed now.
Select Close.
Step 4 – Activate Office
Open any Office application, such as Word.
If prompted, sign in using the same Microsoft account that was used when redeeming your product key.
Accept the Microsoft License Agreement if prompted.
Office will activate automatically after signing in.

Step 5 – Verify Activation
Open Word.
Go to:
File → Account
You should see:
Product Activated
and
Microsoft Office Home & Student 2016
Your installation is now complete.
Troubleshooting
I receive an error that the product key has already been used
This usually means the product key has already been redeemed to a Microsoft account.
Please sign in at:
using the Microsoft account that was used during redemption.
If you purchased your license from us EM Digital Group and cannot determine which Microsoft account was used, please contact our support team.
I cannot redeem my product key
Please verify:
The product key has been entered correctly.
Your internet connection is stable.
You are redeeming the key at:
https://setup.office.com
If the issue continues, contact our support team
Office asks me to enter another product key
This usually indicates Office was installed from a different edition than the one associated with your license.
Please uninstall the current Office installation and reinstall Office directly from your Microsoft account after redeeming your product key by going to https://account.microsoft.com/services and look for install
Activation did not happen automatically
Make sure you are signed in with the same Microsoft account used during redemption.
You can also sign in at:
to verify that Office Home & Student 2016 appears under your Services & Subscriptions.
