Before You Begin
Before starting, make sure you have:
✅ Your Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2016 product key
✅ A Microsoft account (required for redemption)
✅ A stable internet connection
✅ Administrator access to your Windows PC
✅ At least 6 GB of available storage space
Important
Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2016 is permanently linked to the Microsoft account used during redemption. Be sure to redeem the product using the Microsoft account you intend to keep.
Step 1 – Redeem Your Product Key
Open Microsoft's official Office redemption website:
Sign in with your Microsoft account.
If you don't have one, select Create one.
Enter Your Product Key
Enter your 25-character product key, then select Next.
Example:
XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX
Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the redemption.
Step 2 – Download Office
Once your product key has been redeemed:
Select Install Office.
Choose your preferred language (if prompted).
Select the default 64-bit version unless you specifically require 32-bit.
The Office installer (OfficeSetup.exe) will begin downloading.
Step 3 – Install Microsoft Office
Locate the downloaded file:
OfficeSetup.exe
Double-click the installer.
If Windows displays a User Account Control prompt, select Yes.
Office will begin downloading and installing automatically.
This may take several minutes depending on your internet speed.
Please keep your computer connected to the internet during installation.
Step 4 – Launch an Office App
After installation completes:
Open Microsoft Word from the Start menu.
Because Office has already been redeemed to your Microsoft account, Word should activate automatically after signing in.
Step 5 – Verify Activation
Open Microsoft Word.
Go to:
File → Account
You should see:
Product Activated
and
Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2016
Your installation is now complete.
Troubleshooting
Office asks for a product key again
Make sure you're signed in with the same Microsoft account used when redeeming your product key.
If necessary:
Close all Office applications.
Reopen Word.
Sign in with the correct Microsoft account.
Office won't activate
Verify that:
The product key was successfully redeemed at https://setup.office.com
You're signed in using the same Microsoft account used during redemption.
Your computer is connected to the internet.
If activation still fails, restart your PC and try opening Word again.
I redeemed the key but cannot find my Office download
Visit:
Sign in with the Microsoft account used during redemption.
Your Office license should appear under Services & subscriptions, where you can download and reinstall Office at any time.
