How to Start Dictating
Open Microsoft Word.
Open or create a document.
Go to the Home tab.
Select Dictate (microphone icon).
Allow microphone access if prompted.
Start speaking clearly. Word will convert your speech into text.
Select Dictate again to stop.
Helpful Voice Commands
You can say commands such as:
“Period”
“Comma”
“Question mark”
“New line”
“New paragraph”
If Dictate Is Not Working
Check that:
Your microphone is connected and enabled.
Microsoft Word has permission to access your microphone.
You have an active internet connection.
You are signed in to your Microsoft account.
Your version of Microsoft Word is up to date.
The Dictate feature may not be available in some older versions of Microsoft Word.
