Will Older Office Files Work in Newer Versions of Office?

Yes. In most cases, files created in older versions of Microsoft Office can be opened, edited, and saved in newer versions of Office.

When you open an older Office file, you may see Compatibility Mode in the title bar. This means Office is preserving the file’s original format and limiting certain newer features to prevent compatibility issues.
