OEM vs Retail: What is the difference?

Both OEM and Retail versions offer the same features, updates, and functions, providing the full Windows experience.

Features

Both OEM and Retail versions offer the same features, updates, and functions, providing the full Windows experience.

Hardware Changes

With a Retail license, you can replace any part of your computer. An OEM license, however, only allows you to replace all parts except the motherboard, as the license is tied to it.

Upgrades

Upgrading from Home to Pro is only possible with a Retail license.

License Transfers

A Retail license can be moved to another computer (one at a time), while an OEM license is tied to the activated computer and cannot be transferred.

Support

Retail license holders can contact Microsoft Support for help with hardware compatibility or other issues. OEM license holders will be referred to their device manufacturer for assistance.

When you purchase a license from Em Digital Group.com, you get free technical support throughout the whole process.
